BANGALORE:  The High Court on Monday refused to stay the ongoing preliminary inquiry into March 2 violence, involving advocates, police personnel and media persons at the City Civil Court complex, after ACP of Devanahalli Peerappa filed a petition objecting inquiry by DGP R K Datta. Seeking a stay on the inquiry, Peerappa had stated that the chief minister had ordered an inquiry into March 2 violence, but it was in violation of an order of the Supreme Court and the Commission of Inquiry Act-1988.Appearing for the state, additional advocate general said it was just a fact-finding committee, and not a separate commission, and it was only recording statements of advocates, police, media personnel and the pubic. Hearing the petition, Justice Abdul Nazeer said the court could not order an interim stay on the inquiry, and the contention of the petitioner was premature. He directed the concerned official to submit the inquiry report, and adjourned the hearing.
