Kolkata: A fast track city court on Thursday framed charges against the accused Todis and middleman Pappu for abetment to suicide of Rizwanur Rahman.

The four accused are also charged with criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.

The CBI had prayed for slapping abetment to suicide charge against industrialist Ashok Todi and other accused, including two IPS officers.

However, the charge of abetment to suicide against the three Kolkata Police officers was dropped. The three police officers will face trial only for criminal intimidation and conspiracy.

All accused will move High Court challenging the charges framed.

Rizwanur's family and the CBI are also likely to move High Court against not charging the police officers with abetment to suicide.

The trial is scheduled to start from May 16.

Computer graphics engineer Rizwanur had married Todi's daughter Priyanka on August 18, 2007 and was found dead on the local railway tracks on September 21, 2007, after which his mother and brother had moved the High Court for an independent CBI probe into his unnatural death.
