PUDUCHERRY: The local unit of the CPI-ML has raised an objection to the reported move by the territorial administration to sell some of the land owned by Cooperative Spinning Mill (SPINCO) at Thirubuvanai.Briefing mediapersons at a press conference on Wednesday, P Shankaran, vice president of the party’s state committee, said the party would oppose it tooth and nail. Referring to CM N Rangasamy’s recent statement regarding selling of land to raise revenue so as to upgrade the mill’s state of affairs, he said it was not a viable proposition.Similarly, even if AFT Mills and Swadeshi Mills resorted to the same move, it would be a foolish exercise, he said. Previously, the lands owned by AFT Mills and Swadeshi Cotton Mills had been sold in order to revive the mills, but nothing materialised as the money got from selling the lands was not utilised for the purpose for which it was planned. The selling of SPINCO land would result in the same outcome with SPINCO not benefiting in any way, he added.
