New Delhi: The strike by the MCD workers over non-payment of their dues entered day four on Saturday. MCD workers protested in Delhi and also dumped garbage in front of Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.
The protesters who are venting their ire by dumping piles of garbage outside the homes and offices of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, headed towards the residence of Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendra Jain formed a task force to clean the garbage across Delhi. The minister has sought hourly updates from all task forces.
More than 7,000 doctors are also on strike, approximately 2,000 senior doctors, 5,000 resident doctors and 15,000 nurses joined the strike. The medical staff belong to the hospitals run by the MCDs. However, critically ill patients will be attended to during this period.
"For 3 months are salaries have not been paid, have been harassed for the past 1 year. We are not responsible for this strike, government is the one causing inconvenience to the public. We don't mind getting arrested, it is a matter of our livelihood, we do not have money to run our families", said Dr RR Gautam, Municipal Corporation Doctors' Association.
