New Delhi: The contempt of court warning by the Supreme Court has sent the agitating doctors into a huddle.

The doctors began immediate consultations with legal experts and also started a meeting after the Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the agitation.

"We are consulting legal experts," Dr Vinod Patra, President of the AIIMS Resident Doctors' Association said.

Dr Neha Gami, a spokesperson of Youth for Equality said: "We will be in a position to comment only after we receive a copy of the court order."

The meeting of representatives of the protesting doctors was being held to discuss the observations made by the Supreme Court, Gami said.

With the doctors' strike entering the 18th day on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said "we specifically said yesterday, for larger public interest, the ongoing strike should be called off. On the contrary, opposite is going on."

"We are not concerned at this stage about the Government policy. We are concerned at this stage about the plight of the people," a vacation Bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice L S Panta said taking suo motu note of the developments.
