CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has restrained police in Hosur, the SP in Krishnagiri and the father of a girl who married a man belonging to another caste from interfering with her personal liberty by separating her from her husband and foisting cases against him. Justice S Rajeswaran granted the injunction on Wednesday admitting a writ petition from T Kannagi and her husband P Vijay Anand of Hosur. According to the couple, they fell in love with each other and decided to get married. However, Kannagi’s father Thimmarayappa opposed the proposal. There was no objection from the boy’s parents. They got married and registered the same with the Registrar, Hosur, on March 24. The boy got employment in a private company in Hosur and the girl pursued her studies at Adhiyaman Engineering College. The girl’s father, with the connivance of the police, attempted to separate them. Their complaint was not registered. On the other hand, the police registered false cases against the husband, they alleged, and approached the High Court for necessary relief.
