'Drop Case or Face Consequences': UP Man Whose Daughter Went Missing Gets Call from Pakistani Number
On August 3, the father of the abducted girl, who serves as a home guard, received a WhatsApp call from a number that belonged to Pakistan.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, the father of a student who was allegedly abducted from a village in the Bhojipura police station area received a threatening call from a Pakistani number, causing severe distress to the family. The caller instructed him to abandon the case he had filed regarding his daughter’s abduction or face death threats for his entire family. The home guard reported the incident to the police on Sunday evening.

On August 3, the father of the abducted girl, who serves as a home guard, received a WhatsApp call from a number that belonged to Pakistan. The profile picture showed a person in a police inspector’s uniform. The caller claimed to be from the police station and stated that he had apprehended four to six boys, having obtained the number from the victim’s son. He requested details about the home guard’s family.

Believing the caller to be a legitimate police inspector, the home guard provided comprehensive details about his family. The caller then issued a threatening message, demanding that the home guard drop the abduction case and forget about his daughter, or else face the threat of death for his entire family. After making the threat, the call was disconnected. Attempts to call the number back were unsuccessful as it was no longer reachable.

The incident was reported to the Bhojipura police station, where a formal complaint has been lodged against the individual. Police Station in-Charge Ramratan Singh stated that the matter regarding the call from the Pakistani number has been forwarded to the cyber cell for investigation. Additionally, the investigation into the threats made at the home has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Surendra Singh.

The incident began when the home guard’s daughter, Sanjana, fled from her village on July 13, prompting her family to file a kidnapping case. The family formally filed a complaint against a local resident named Arshad who allegedly took Sanjana to Karnataka and the duo got married there. In response to the girl’s disappearance, villagers surrounded the police station and attempted to block the road, demanding action.

The police successfully recovered the girl, who is currently housed at Nari Niketan, and recorded her statement under Section 161. However, her statement under Section 164 is still pending in court. Tensions have escalated in the village due to the communal nature of the case, which led to protests and roadblocks by locals demanding the girl’s return. The police had assured recovery efforts, but the situation remains tense.

In addition to the threatening call, a separate complaint has been made against an individual alleged to be a journalist who is accused of visiting the family and pressuring them to withdraw their case.
