KOCHI: The City Shadow Police team on Wednesday arrested the kingpin of a drug trafficking racket in the city.The arrested has been identified as Vineesh, 25, alias Thankappan of Kumbalangi.He was arrested after the police strengthened their surveillance to nab the drug peddlers operating in the city. There have been reports on increased activities of drug racketeers at Kumbalangi, Palluruthy and Aroor in the last six months under the leadership of Vineesh, against whom police have earlier registered various drug peddling cases. The police also seized ganja packets from the arrested. The Shadow Police have been keeping a close watch on the activities of drug peddlers in the city for the last couple of months as there has been an increase in flow of ganja and other drugs to the city from the neighbouring states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.The police have been able to bust a dozen drug trafficking rackets in the city in the last one year.
