THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The PWD would get e-payment facility by March 15. PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju said that action plan in this regard has been prepared. The PWD Minister has given instructions to the circle,division and sub- division officers to inform the contractors about the e-payment facility.Details of the accounts of contractors too would be provided. With the launch of e-payment, contractors need not collect money from PWD offices anymore. Money would be credited to their accounts. After implementing the e-tendering facility, contractors would be able to submit online tenders. “E-payment is being launched to speed up bill payment, checking corruption and to bring transparency in the functioning of the PWD,” Ebrahim Kunju said.The bill amount would be credited through RBI’s Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). Rs one lakh is the minimum amount which could be transferred through RTGS. The Minister said that zero-balance accounts for division and sub-division offices would be opened in the treasury.PWD will the first department to implement e-procurement with the launch of e-notification, e-tendering and e-payment.
