Eunuch accuses of sexual assault by police during detention

A eunuch has accused three policemen of Dargah police station in Jaipur of sexually assaulting her while she was under detention there in Ajmer district in Rajasthan, police said.

The victim has also accused an SHO of extorting money during the detention, but police have rejected all accusations. Eight eunuchs allegedly beat a constable Bhanwar Singh after he denied entry of their two autorickshaws into crowded Dargah market on June 4, police said. They (eunuchs) were arrested and kept under detention in the night.

They were later remanded to judicial custody by a court and were granted bail by a court on June 9. On Tuesday, one of the eunuchs alleged that the SHO Vijay Singh extorted Rs 40,000 from her during the detention period and two constables including Bhanwar Singh and one ASI, who was on the night duty, sexually assaulted her in the police station, the SP said.

An FIR against the SHO, one ASI and two constables was lodged on Tuesday, SP Ajmer Mahendra Singh said. Medical examination of the eunuch was conducted and she has been called again on Thursday, he said. "Primary investigation suggests that no such incident took place in the police station where there were five female police personnel present on the night of June 4. However, the matter is being investigated," he said.
