Farrukhabad Jailer, Deputy Jailer suspended over death of jail inmate

The Jailer and Deputy Jailer of Farrukhabad district jail have been suspended in connection with the brawl over the death of an inmate apparently due to absence of medical aid.

While Jailer Suresh Chandra Mishra and Deputy Jailer Rajesh Rai were suspended, nine guards were transferred following the violence in the jail on May 17, official sources said here.

Angry over the death of an inmate apparently due to absence of medical aid, prisoners in the district jail attacked the staff injuring some of them on May 17.  Heated arguments ensued between the prisoners and the jail officials leading to violence in which some staffers were injured.
