Foreign militants enjoy local support
The militants may be from across the borders but it is this support base that forms the backbone of this terror network.

New Delhi: The foiled attack on RSS Headquarters in Nagpur on Thursday has raised a crucial question, who was helping the suspected LeT militants?

It is true that the foreign hand is always blamed but how these modules often get the much needed and crucial local support is a matter of concern.

Same modus operandi were adopted in both June 1, 2006 RSS Headquarter attack and December 13, 2001 Parliament attack. Not for the fact that both the attacks were foiled and modus operandi were same, but grenades recovered in both the attempts are from the same manufacturer.

Police are now trying to find answers to the crucial questions on where the logistical support came from? Who helped them get the white ambassador car, the red beacon light and the weapons?

Intelligence sources have told CNN-IBN that there is evidence of strong links between the banned organisation SIMI and the LeT.

It stands to logic that a terrorist organisation with foreign backing cannot plan and execute attacks in India without local support.

This link between LeT, SIMI and the Deobandis is clear from these recent disclosures by arrested militants

The LeT operative arrested in Aurangabad recently with the huge cache or arms and ammunition has revealed in his interrogation that SIMI operatives helped him in delivering the arms.

In Rajasthan, a LeT militant revealed that the hideout, he had been picked up from, had been arranged for him by SIMI.

A Pakistani arrested in Gwalior told the police that he had even been provided with residence proof with which he was able to get a genuine driving license.

Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said, "To combat threats like these we need to develop a strong local intelligence network."

The militants may be from across the borders but there is no doubt that once they are on Indian soil, they depend heavily on their local support base. And it is this support base that forms the backbone of this terror network.
