Former Sarpanch injured in attack by miscreants

ANANTAPUR: In yet another faction related incident in the district, a former sarpanch of Peddamallepalle village of Yellanur mandal was grievously injured by unidentified miscreants in the early hours of Thursday.According to information reaching here, Lakshmaiah (40), former sarpanch of Peddamallepalle, was reportedly making efforts to make his wife the next sarpanch of the village.In this context, six unidentified miscreants, wearing masks, came to the house of Lakshmaiah on Thursday, called him out and attacked him with sickles and sticks.When he collapsed, assuming him to be dead, they fled the spot.Family members and neighbours, who came out on hearing the commotion, found Lakshmaiah on the ground with bleeding injuries. They immediately rushed him to government hospital at Tadipatri and later shifted him to government hospital in Kurnool, where his condition is stated to be serious.Yellanur police registered a case and are investigating.
