Srinagar: A former Sarpanch in Kandizal village of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir was shot dead by terrorists at his residence on Sunday.
Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, who belonged to the National Conference, was shot and seriously injured. Bhat died on his way to the hospital.
Militants barged into the house of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat in Kandizal village of Pulwama on Sunday afternoon and shot him from close range.
"He was shifted to hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead," a senior police officer said.
In the past also we have seen sarpanches shot by terrorists in the valley.
As per reports Fayaz Ahmad had joined the BJP. Earlier, political killings had rocked the region and is being assumed as one of the reason for his death.
