BANGALORE: Accidental fire broke out at the warehouse of an oil factory in Sumanahalli, near Laggere Main Road on Thursday. Goods worth a few lakh rupees were gutted in the mishap. According to fire department officials, passersby noticed fire on the spot at around 5.45 pm and informed them. However, fire had destroyed chemicals and tinner oil drums. Eight fire tenders were pressed into service, and after four hours, fire was doused completely. “Fire had spread massively at the warehouse and a few drums exploded while I was trying to call the fire department. On lookers rushed to the spot and started to douse the fire. Fire tenders came in soon,” said Nagendra, an eye witness. “The reason behind the mishap is yet to be investigated. The warehouse did not have fire-fighting equipment or no-objection certificate from the department. The oil stock stored at the warehouse was illegal, and the owner of the warehouse is absconding. No casulties were reported in the incident,” the officials said.
