MYSORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the Government is geared up to tackle drought situation in the state and has released Rs 174.79 crore for the drought relief works to be carried in the affected districts.Refuting the Opposition charges that the government has not made any preparations and has no funds to handle the drought situation, he said that an additional of Rs 85 crore has been released ensuring that all the Deputy Commissioner’s get at least Rs 4 crore each. Speaking to here on Sunday, Gowda said that he is interacting with six DCs daily and said that the Opposition leaders were not aware about this.When asked about Opposition leaders demanding legislative session to discus the drought institution, he said that the people of the state know how far the Opposition parties have used the floor of the house to raise public issues. Denying that the government is postponing the Assembly session as its leaders have landed in trouble in various corruption charges, he said that the Opposition parties have made similar charges in the past three years and that the government has replied to a lengthy letter from the Opposition leaders raising many issues. “We, as a ruling party know when to convene a legislature session,” he said.Later, speaking after inaugurating development works in Nanjangud taluk, he said that during his meeting with the Prime Minister, he has demanded Rs 4,900 crore in order to provide flouride- free water in few a districts and to provide basic facilities in all villages.
