Kanpur: Prominent social activist Anna Hazare has claimed that the Centre is likely to amend the Right to Information Act to make it weak.
Addressing a function at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on Saturday night, Hazare said the time has come to launch "second freedom struggle" with the help of the Act.
He said with the implementation of the RTI Act, people have become more conscious to protect their rights.
Central Information Commissioner O P Kejriwal said Kanpur residents should launch agitation against pollution with the help of RTI Act so that they could lead a healthy life.
Kejriwal said through the Act one could find out who was responsible for the pollution in the city.
He said even after spending several crores of rupees under the Ganga Action Plan, the river still remained polluted.
People should ask why the Ganga was still polluted despite spending such a huge amount of money, he said.
