Ahmedabad: Around 30 youths from Gujarat, who returned safely following the industrial unrest in the African country of Angola, on Tuesday called on Chief Minister Narendra Modi at Gandhinagar.

"Following the industrial violence in Angola last month, around 1200 Indians were stuck in there and struggling for safe return. It was because of timely intervention of the chief minister that many people, including me and 29 others from Gujarat, could able to return safely," said Vijay Valmik, a resident of Petlad town in Anand district.

"Former minister Karsanbhai Patel had arranged our meeting with Modi and this morning we met and thanked him for his efforts," he said.

There are around 500 more Indians, mostly workers, who are still stranded at the cement plant near Sumbe town in the African nation for more then 25 days, Valmik claimed.
