BANGALORE: The High Court on Monday directed the Technical Board to permit students of the 2008 batch of polytechnic students to continue their third year diploma and permit them to appear for their fifth semester examinations. The direction came as a relief to 80 students, who had moved the High Court challenging the board’s decision to not admit them to final year citing that they have not cleared all subjects. A single bench headed by Justice Abdul Nazeer directed the polytechnics to admit students to the final year and the board has been directed to allow them to take their fifth semester examinations with all carry over subjects. The board had laid down norms that students seeking admission into the final year have to clear their pending subjects in other semesters. The students had contended that the board’s mode of conducting examinations was responsible for their uncleared subjects as the examination time table was overlapping and they were unable to appear for some of the examinations.
