KOCHI: A petition has been filed before the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the state government and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to implement the recommendations of the Sobhanan panel for correcting the errors in the textbooks prepared for classes VII to X.The petitioner A Vinod, co-coordinator of Vidyabhyasa Samrakshana Samiti, Kozhikode,  submitted that he had made a representation to the government and the Director of the SCERT for correcting certain mistakes in the textbooks. The mistakes occurred owing to the irresponsible and improper suggestions of a committee appointed to prepare the textbooks for the upper primary and high school classes, he said. The government then appointed a three-member committee headed by S Sobhanan, Head of the History Department, University of Kerala, to make suggestions on the corrections. However, the committee’s recommendations have not been implemented so far, the petitioner said.
