BANGALORE: The Foundation for Arts and Culture for Deaf, Bangalore, felicitated children with hearing disabilities from different schools across the city who scored 60 per cent and above in this year’s SSLC examinations held in April.The foundation that has been promoting hearing-impaired students gave away medals and certificates to young achievers embracing their success.Present at the event were coporator Sadhashiva, Kannada film actor and TV serial director Sihi Kahi Chandru and film director Naga Shekar, who expressed their gratitude towards the meritorious students. “One requires patience and perseverance in order to understand these children and their emotions. I congratulate all of them who have done well in their exams but also I would like to extend my congratulations to the parents and teachers who have constantly supported and enriched the lives of these children,” said Kannada film actor and TV serial director Sihi Kahi Chandru. He further added, “I have worked with many organisations in the past and that has today helped me understand these children better. “When director of the Foundation for Arts and Culture for Deaf A K Umesh asked Sihi Kahi Chandru whether he would in the future produce a TV serial for these children, Sihi Kahi was quick to respond, “Looking at the energy in the children here and the immense talent in them, I think I would be a great idea to do so. I would further start working on a concept and bring out a silent tele serial.” Contributing with his support corporator Sadhashiva said, “People often try to pull back these children because people think they ‘lack’ something.But one can easily see how talented these children are. This institution has been encouraging deaf students from Bangalore for a very long time now. To support the same the government has proposed to give one lakh rupees to the foundation to further help them support these children and empower their lives.” The students from various schools — Mercy School for Deaf, Mysore; Kothavala School for Deaf, Bangalore; JSS Sahana School for Deaf, Bangalore; Rotary West School for Deaf, Mysoreput up some cultural performances.
