KOCHI: The police will tighten the security system at Sree Krishna Temple, Guruvayur, with advance security equipment. The security is being beefed up due to considerable rise in the number of devotees arriving at the temple. The bomb detection equipment would be installed at the temple.“We are planning to install a baggage and parcel scanner, multi-zone door frame metal detector, hand-held metal detector and CCTV cameras this year. We have placed orders for five baggage and parcel scanners, 10 multi-zone door frame metal detectors and 18 hand-held metal detectors. We have not placed orders for the cameras yet but will install them by year-end,” sources at the police headquarters said.“Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple is one of the prominent temples in the country. People from across the country visit the temple every year. So the security system at the temple has to be strengthened. We want all devotees to be monitored. The action is not taken due to any immediate security threat. We are doing this as part of the precautionary measures,” the police officials said.
