THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The skill certification training programme for the first batch of cooks and waiters working in the hospitality industry without any formal education concluded at the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT), Kovalam, on Saturday.The training titled National Hospitality Skill Certificate Programme sponsored by the Union Ministry of Tourism was attended by 31 persons. Thiruvananthapuram District Panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel was the chief guest at the programme. IHMCT principal L V Kumar and administrative officer George Alexander spoke.The IHMCT in a statement said that the training for the next batch would commence on April 23. There is no age limit and those working in eateries including hotels, restaurants, dhabas, guest houses and clubs can apply. There is no course fee. The participants will be given Rs 200 stipend a day. After the five-day training there will be a skill and oral test on the sixth day, the release said.
