HYDERABAD: A House committee will be constituted soon to probe the land allotments made by the state government since 2004.Assembly speaker N Manohar has taken a decision in this regard and asked all the political parties to provide the names of members to be included in the House committee before November 10.The speaker held a meeting with the floor leaders of different political parties in his chambers on Monday.The floor leaders demanded constitution of the House committee to probe into allotment of land to private persons and companies by the Congress government since 2004.The government had already agreed to constitute a House committee on land allotment, in the Assembly.The speaker assured that the legislative committees on different issues would be constituted before November 15.The floor leaders also demanded that the Assembly session be convened to discuss drought, spread of diseases and other major issues.After the meeting, finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy told reporters that the state government was committed to fulfilling all the promises made during the last Assembly session and it would constitute a House committee on land allotment.The Central government is drafting a new policy on land allotment.The state government has already prepared the draft policy in this regard.It will hold a meeting with legislators soon to elicit their opinions on the draft policy on land allotment, he said.With regard to the demand for convening the Assembly session to discuss drought and viral fevers, the finance minister said it would be taken up with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
