HYDERABAD: The Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, conducted a ‘Passport Adalat’ in connection with Haj passport applications. Another adalat will be held on Wednesday too. Speaking at a press conference after handing over passports, K Srikar Reddy, regional passport officer, said, the Hyderabad Haj committee had made a total of 1,400 applications last week, of which 139 passports have been dispatched already last week and 264 more have been dispatched on Tuesday. He further informed that, the office was unable to issue passports to rest of the applicants as police verification had not been completed till date. Those applicants who have not got police verification done so far, would be handed over the form on Wednesday and they need to go to the nearest SP office and get the formalities done within a week, ” he said. Following the Saudi Arabian government’s decision to make international passports mandatory for Haj visa, the Haj committee had found out that most of the pilgrims did not have the same. The AP Haj committee, then, had submitted their representation requesting speedy issue of international passports. The last date for submitting applications  is April 16. The applicants who need Police Clearance Certificate can register online and are allowed a walk-in at any Passport Seva Kendra, with the application reference number (ARN) for submission
