Ice cream case: K M Shaji too toes party line!

KOZHIKODE: The sudden U-turn of Muslim Youth League state president and MLA K M Shaji, who has been hailed for his anti-Kunhalikutty stance in the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), has raised eyebrows with his latest article extending open support to Kunhalikutty in the ice-cream parlour case and harshly criticising the visual media for ‘digging up a spooky tale, which was dumped after the scrutiny of over a two dozen judges in more than a dozen complaints for one-and-a-half decades.’In his latest article in ‘Chandrika Daily’, Shaji alleges that two TV channels, by sabotaging all media ethics, have been undertaking vain attempts to keep the ice-cream parlour case afloat, which was disposed by various Courts of the country as well as the ‘people’s court’.“While one has exploited the ice-cream parlour case for its sustenance, the other is now chewing the cud by resorting to adventurous experiments to establish its own identity. What’s happening now is a crooked attempt to link a suicide case occurred in 1996 with the ice-cream parlour case,” Shaji says. Citing the emotional outburst by DYFI leader and MLA T V Rajesh even at the slightest mention of an attack against a lady staff, Shaji gives two reasons for Kunhalikutty remaining calm and extremely composed even amid the stinking reports published by the print and visual media over the past 16 years. “One, Kunhalikutty’s conviction that there is no point in allegations against him. The other is the strong belief that he is backed by a strong organisation that possess the genes of the valiant tradition of struggle in Eranad,” Shaji claims in the article.
