In This Andhra Pradesh Village, Goshala Housing 150 Cows Runs On Donation
The goshala is located in the Sri Abhayanjaneya Swamy Temple near the Somaladoddi village, in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Cows are considered sacred beings in our country, requiring care and protection, especially the stray ones. According to Local18, Indian cows are facing endangerment due to a reported illness. In such a situation, a group of people have taken the initiative to protect the cows and save their lives. The goshala is located in the Sri Abhayanjaneya Swamy Temple, which is near the Somaladoddi village, in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. It houses around 150 cows. According to Local18, it is being done without any aim for gains or profits. The cows are not being used for any income and the milk they produce is only given to the calves. If anyone needs the milk, they can get it for free from the goshala, which makes it a popular place among the locals.

Families of young children, who are unwell for any reason can visit the place and register in advance for milk. They will be provided milk, free of cost, for six months. Several donors contribute money to the goshala, ranging between Rs 500, Rs 1000 and Rs 5000, given each month. According to them, they care about the place and expect nothing in return from it.

They do not have enough space to keep 150 cows, but they still manage. The temple priest Shanmukha Sharma says that if they are able to acquire more land from the government, it would be used to help more cows. A lot of people have expressed their wish to donate but the help has been refused for now, since the current place is far from enough. It consists of three sheds, where 150 cows are being kept, added the priest. He told Local18, “I hope that if someone collects the land with the help of donors and gives it voluntarily, we will be fortunate enough to serve even more cows.”
