The Puducherry police have set up operations such as Operation Amla and Operation Trishul to seize marijuana and other drugs

Due to the increasing sale of marijuana and other drugs in Puducherry day by day, the police have upped the ante to tackle the situation. There is high demand from people that the movement of marijuana and other drugs should be completely eradicated, and strict action should be taken against marijuana dealers with an iron hand.

The Puducherry police have set up operations such as Operation Amla and Operation Trishul to seize marijuana and other drugs arrest those selling them and imprison them. While the police are undertaking steps to control the menace, a village has decided to take justice into their own hands. In the village of Veerampattinam near Puducherry, the village panchayat has decided that anyone caught using or selling marijuana will be expelled from the village.

They have also resolved that they will never support the sale of marijuana or other drugs. If anyone is caught selling marijuana and anyone supports them, the village panchayat will take action against those supporters as well. They have warned the public through loudspeakers about this decision, saying they will expel anyone caught using marijuana from the village.

Regarding this, the village panchayat said that the police and the government alone cannot eradicate the movement of marijuana and other drugs and the public must also contribute in some way. That is why they have decided to expel anyone caught using marijuana in Veerampattinam village.

This step by the panchayat may not be legally correct or feasible. Regarding this, a lawyer told Local18 that expelling someone from the village is against constitutional law and that only a court can declare someone guilty. Until then, it is wrong to say that someone cannot enter the village. Only if the police prohibit entry into the village can it be accepted. Otherwise, it is against the law for the panchayat or villagers to say that someone cannot enter the village.

What's your reaction?
