Islamabad: India has handed over to Pakistan a list of 38 most wanted criminals including Dawood Ibrahim and chiefs of militant outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed Hafeez Saeed and Maulana Masood Azhar respectively for spreading terror.

Union Home Secretary V K Duggal handed over the list to his Pakistani counterpart Syed Kamal Shah during the talks as part of the confidence building measures between the two countries.

The list also includes the names of five hijackers of Indian Airlines plane in 1999 to Kandhahar and their two accomplices.

Shah, while expressing ignorance about the presence of Dawood in Pakistan, also handed over a list of 58 criminals wanted by Islamabad and were allegedly hiding in India.

It included the name of one Javed Langra, said to be the "most wanted criminal" by Pakistan.

The two sides also discussed the extradition treaty.

Pakistan, in the past, has been linking this with resolution to the Kashmir issue.

Islamabad also rejected New Delhi's claim that Pakistan was promoting terrorism and claimed their country had been a victim of militant violence for playing the role of a frontline state in the war against terror.

On the contrary, Islamabad accused India's consulates in Afghanistan of promoting insurgency in Southwest Balochistan province, a charge denied by New Delhi consistently.
