Dubai: Five Indian workers in Bahrain were allegedly locked up in their room by their sponsor after they demanded overtime dues.
In a complaint they filed with police against their sponsor, the men, who were staying in an accommodation at Kingdom Tower Building Construction Company, said they were told to keep working without overtime even after their shift was over.
However, they said, they refused to do this, following which they were allegedly locked up on Thursday by their sponsor's son and the company manager so that they would not escape.
The five men have been identified as Balakrishnan Soman, Jayamani Kakiya Perumal, Swaminathan Bharathiraj, Sethuraman Arumugam and Dhatchana Moorthy Amritalingam
"It was only after one of the workers received a call from a relative around 10 in the night that the incident was reported to the Indian Embassy and social workers from the Surya Charitable and Cultural Association," the 'Gulf Daily News' reported.
Police went to the workers' accommodation, accompanied by embassy officials and association volunteers, where they asked the company manager to open the door.
