Inter Exam from March 2, SSC from March 26

HYDERABAD: Hoping that the syllabus of SSC (10th class) and Intermediate courses will be completed by January next, the state government on Saturday announced the schedule of SSC (Secondary School Certificate) and Intermediate public examinations of March 2012.It decided to conduct the SSC examinations from March 26 to April 11, 2012 and the Intermediate examinations from March 2 to 21. Practical examinations will be held from February 3 to 24.The time table for Intermediate vocational course examination will be issued separately.The government also decided to conduct the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) on January 8 before the commencement of the DSC (District Selection Committee) examination for teachers' recruitment. About six lakh candidates are appearing for TET. Candidates have to qualify in the TET to appear for DSC examination.It has decided not to postpone the examinations in spite of the impact on the education sector due to the recently-concluded 42-day strike by Telangana employees including teachers and lecturers in support of the Sakala Janula Samme.Announcing the schedule of the examinations at the secretariat, minister for secondary and intermediate education K Parthasarathi said about 13 lakh students would appear for SSC and 18.47 lakh candidates for the Intermediate examination. Steps have been taken for completion of the syllabus of both the courses by January as the teachers who went on a strike have agreed to take one hour extra classes and to work during second Saturdays, Sundays and Sankranti holidays to compensate the 16 working days which were lost during the strike period.Keeping the IIT entrance test (April 8, 2012) and other national competitive examinations in view, it was decided to finalise the schedule of the  Intermediate examinations.Jumbling system would be followed in conducting the examination, he added.
