HYDERABAD: Former director of mines VD Rajagopal has refused to make a statement to officials of the Enforcement Directorate on the ground that prison is not a conducive place for it.The ED had served summons on the nine persons lodged in prison in three cases (Jagan, mining and Emaar). While the other accused have asked the ED to provide them with the Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and Annexures I, II and III, Rajagopal objected to the recording of statements by the directorate, saying that that the petition filed by the ED was not maintainable under law.“As the petition did not disclose any provision of law under which the ED is seeking relief and in the absence of the same the petition is liable to be dismissed,' Rajagopal said.Further, he contended that prison is not a conducive place to record a statutory statement which can be used against him at a later stage. He said he was a government employee and his functions were reflected in the records but that they were seized by the CBI.The court posted the matter to June 5.Nimmagadda’s Remand extendedHYDERABAD: The special CBI court has extended the judicial remand of industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and IRAS officer KV Brahmananada Reddy till June 12.Prasad was produced before the judge on Wednesday after his two-day CBI custody ended and was sent to judicial remand.Brahmananda Reddy was produced in the court through videoconferencing facility from the Chanchalguda prison.Meanwhile, the judicial custody of the four accused in the Emaar scam has been extended till June 18.
