Jammu: Ten people were injured when protesters, opposing revocation of land transfer to Amarnath shrine board, clashed with police in several places in the Jammu region despite curfew.

Police fired in the air in Muthi area and also resorted to lathicharge to disperse protesters who defied the curfew orders.

Migrants from three camps in Muthi, Purkhoo and Naurkhoo areas in Jammu held rallies and blocked Jammu-Poonch and Jammu-Srinagar highways demanding action against policemen involved in Tuesday firing in which three persons were seriously wounded.

Seven people were injured as demonstrators clashed with police in the three areas where traffic was badly disrupted.

The agitators also marched to the residence of Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma and staged a demonstration.

They burnt effigies of Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad and PDP patron Mufti Sayeed.

In a separate incident, three people were injured when police cane-charged a group of protesters who tried to march to the house of Congress MLA Girdari Lal in Kuthua district in Jammu region.

The protesters demanded restoration of the powers to shrine board to run the Amarnath pilgrimage, besides removal of the Governor for his decision to surrender the land transferred to the board.
