Just another day in Mangalore
Just another day in Mangalore

Barring the hinterland, the state-wide bandh call received a poor response in Mangalore on Saturday.

Private city buses operated as usual. The services of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses linking rural villages and towns in the district remained unaffected by and large.

It was another normal day for government offices, shops, hotels, petrol pumps and other commercial establishments. Some shops and hotels also downed shutters in these taluks.

Dakshina Kannada SP Abhishek Goyal said no violent incident was reported in the district.

As many as 100 protestors courted arrest by blocking the road at Hampankatta Circle. Meanwhile, in Udupi buses, autorickshaws and taxi services were not affected.

Business establishments remained open and attendance in government and private offices was as usual
