Nearly 120 audio and video operators in Karnataka not united in the last 30 years have now become strong forming an association as Karnataka Audio and Video Association. The first step of the KAVA is that it met the Karnataka Chief Minister and put forth the demands such as piracy botheration, VAT relief etc. Thara Anuradha, Chairperson of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy took the team of Lahari Audio Velu, Anand Audio Mohan Chabria, Ashwini Audio Krishnaprasad, Ganesh Video Ratan, Jhenkar Audio Bharat Jain for a meeting with Karnataka chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

The response of the Karnataka chief minister for the demands of KAVA is very positive says Lahari Velu who heads as the President of the newly formed association.

The KAVA has set ten days deadline for Radio Stations to arrive at the new pricing structure for the software they take from audio houses. The Kannada film producers who pay heavy price for the broadcast of the film songs are contacted by the KAVA to streamline the procedures. The new rule would be the software for the FM radio stations would go from the audio houses instead of directly going by the producers.

Secondly KAVA is keeping a strong vigil on the Ringtone business happening but not coming to audio houses. Good revenue generated from FM Radio stations and Ring Tones will be transferred to the Kannada film Producers says Lahari Velu. According to him the audio and video industry in Karnataka alone is suffering Rs.300 crore losses annually. It is because of rampant piracy. Even the non Kannada films are severely affected. The strong move this time to move the Anti Goonda Act passed by state legislature that is lying in the legal cell of New Delhi is also made.
