Mumbai: Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive for the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and his partner Ismail Khan planned to attack the Raj Bhawan, a court was told on Monday.
Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told the special court which is hearing charges against Kasab that a map showing locations on Mumbai landmarks Chowpatty, Malabar Hill and Raj Bhawan (the Governor’s residence) was recovered from Ismail's pocket.
Nikam alleged the map was prepared by Faheem Ansari, the Indian contact of the Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26 last year.
Ismail alias Ismail Abu knew the location of Malabar Hill and had told Kasab that he would reveal it when they reached there.
Both stole a Skoda car and were driving towards Malabar hill when an encounter broke out with police at Chowpatty. Ismail was killed and Kasab was captured alive,
Nikam said.
Although Kasab's confession does not talk about their plans to strike Raj Bhavan, the place was marked prominently in brackets on the map seized from Ismail's pocket after he was killed.
This indicated that Raj Bhavan was a potential target, Nikam told judge M L Tahilyani.
