HAVERI: A high-level meeting to be chaired by Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya scheduled for November 15 in Bangalore will finalise the date of inauguration of Karnataka Folklore University (KFU) proposed to be set up at Gotagodi village in Shiggaon taluk of Haveri district.KFU Vice-Chancellor Dr Ambalike Hiriyanna told The New Indian Express over phone from Bangalore on Monday that the meet will review the preparations of setting up the first ever folk university of its kind in the country. The meeting will be attended by District In-Charge Minister C M Udasi and Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The VC said that Governor and Chancellor H R Bhardwaj and Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will be invited for the inauguration of the university.The campus will reflect the folk art forms of all the 30 districts of the state. The work of formation of academic council and syndicate of the university is on. We have to get approval for appointment of faculty and the administratvie posts, Dr Hiriyanna said. According to the VC, the State Government has handed over a tourism department’s building for housing the Karnataka Folklore University ’sa administrative complex. “Civil works like construction of compound have been completed completed. The work on roads and laying gardens by the Public Works and Horticulture Departments are in progress. Painting and whitewash is also underway,” Dr Hiriyanna said.
