New Delhi: The ripples of the protest by students in Kolkata against a police lathicharge on Jadavpur University students were felt on the streets of the national capital as students held a stir here demanding the "immediate resignation" of the JU Vice Chancellor and an impartial probe into the matter.
Students from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University, as also several ex-students of Jadavpur University and Presidency University, on Saturday held a protest outside Banga Bhawan.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, the protesters also demanded an apology from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the matter.
Later, they held a protest march from Banga Bhawan to Jantar Mantar.
Addressing the protesters, JNUSU President Ashutosh Kumar said, "Our only demands are for the immediate resignation of the Vice Chancellor of JU and the setting up of a GSCASH (Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment) to probe the sexual harrassment case.
"We will continue with these protests until the VC is removed from his post."
