In a dramatic turn of events, a woman from Chhattisgarh was rescued after being carried 16 kilometers by a river’s strong current while her legs were bound in chains. The rescue took place in Odisha, where local fishermen came to her aid. The incident occurred in the Sarangarh district, which was recently formed from Raigarh district.
The woman, identified as Sarojini Ranbir, hails from Chhattisgarh’s Porath village, which is approximately 16 kilometers from Palsada in Odisha. The circumstances leading to her being swept away remain unclear, but her miraculous survival and subsequent rescue have captured local attention.
Local fishermen from Jharsuguda who were fishing in the Mahanadi River found her in a safe condition and brought her to shore. She was then handed over to the Odisha Police. An investigation is underway to determine who bound her feet with chains.
Witnesses reported that the woman had a thick chain bound to her leg and appeared to be in poor mental health. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
