BANGALORE: They make mergers, set the benchmark and keep Dalal Street as busy as a beehive — in short, they define the markets. But they have another side too. Nine CEOs of different companies will come together to lend their ‘vocal’ support. At the ‘CEOs Sing for their Supper’ event, they will serenade people with their skills to raise money for Genesis Foundation. The celebrity singers will be Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon India Ltd; Shireesh Joshi, director marketing, Airtel Bharti; Sanjay Purohit, managing director, Levis India; Geetu Verma, vice president Innovation, PepsiCo India; Chandran Sankaran, founder and CEO, Zyme Solutions; Pankajj Chaturvedi, executive director and CEO, Rich Graviss Products; Manoj Nair, former CEO, VIBGYOR Net Communications; Sunder Ashok Genomal, managing director, Jockey India and Thomas Chandy, founder and CMD Hosmat Hospitals. Miss India 2008 Parvathy Omanakuttan, the goodwill ambassador of Genesis Foundation will also be present at the event. Based in Delhi, Genesis Foundation provides medical and financial support to critically ill orphan or underprivileged children. Their areas of focus include cancer, cardiac disorders, thalassemia, severe deformities and organ failure. “Proceeds from this event will save the lives of seven children,” says Prema Sagar, the founding trustee of Genesis Foundation.Last year, Bangalore saw a very successful ‘CEO Chefs Share-a-Smile Lunch’ where nine CEOs donned the chef’s hat and cooked for a good cause. “We have been doing the charity fundraiser lunch for the past seven years. It was during one of those events that I got the idea for ‘CEOs Sing for their Supper’. One CEO said that he has auctioned his songs and also had a band. That’s when I thought of doing an event like this. CEOs Sing for their Supper was held last year in Mumbai, but I believe the response will be much better in Bangalore,” points out Prema. So can all the nine CEOs ‘really’ sing? “Some of them are good. And some are average. But more importantly, it’s a fun event for a cause,” smiles Prema. ‘CEOs Sing for their Supper’ in association with Grey Goose will be held today at ITC Gardenia at 7 pm.
