BANGALORE: The Lokayukta Special Court on Wednesday has posted the hearing on the case of irregularities in the denotification of the government land committed by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his kin to September 13, as the court was hearing the issue of having a Public Prosecutor in the same case.This is the second time Yeddyurappa, his sons B Y Raghavendra (MP), B Y Vijayendra, son-in-law Sohan Kumar, former minister Krishnaiah Shetty and MLA D Hemachandra Sagar stood in the accused box.Judge Sudheendra Rao heard the argument over appointing a public prosecutor in this case as the counsel for the accused Ravi B Nayak and C V Nagesh had sought a Special Public Prosecutor to appear for complainant Sirajuddin Pasha. But Pasha’s counsel C H Hanumantharaya objected this demand.He said if the court wanted, it could recognise him as SPP.But raising an objection, Nagesh said there was a need for appointing a separate SPP to argue this case as it was against the state.He further said Pramod Chandra, who had been appointed SPP for the Lokayukta, should also be present in the court. Meanwhile, Ravi B Nayak submitted that Yeddyurappa had appeared before the court twice, and so he might be exempted from personal appearance on the next hearing in view of security problems and public inconvenience involved in his appearance in the court.But Judge Sudheendra Rao said it might be heard at a latter stage, and he would not allow this case to go to the ‘orphanage’.Fourteen accused, including Yeddyurappa,in two separate cases of irregularities in the denotification of the government land were summoned to appear before the Lokayukta court on August 27. But on verifying Yeddyurappa’s plea citing his health, the court asked them to appear before the court on August 29. Then the argument was posted to September 7.
