Security alert issued after a man dropped off a package and ran away. 2,000 people ordered out of terminal.
London: Authorities evacuated Heathrow Airport's Terminal Two on Tuesday after a man ran up to the Air Algeria desk, dropped off a package, and ran away.
About 2,000 people were ordered out of the terminal, which houses many European carriers, police said.
The British Airports Authority said a package was being investigated and advised all travellers to check with their airlines before traveling to the airport. The airport's bomb squad was called to the area, police said.
The incident came two months after police thwarted an alleged plot to blow up airlines travelling between Britain and the United States.
The arrests touched off stricter security measures at all British airports, prompting travel chaos at Heathrow for weeks.
