KOCHI: ‘Made in Kerala’ concept should focus on the brands and services that represent the true identity of Kerala. There should be a Kerala element in every product associated with the concept, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, secretary, Department of Industries and Managing Director of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), said here on Saturday after inaugurating a seminar titled ‘Made in Kerala 2012’.The ‘Made in Kerala’ initiative launched by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kerala, aims to promote and develop indigenous industries and service industry providers from the state. The objective of the concept is to have a unique competitive advantage which can attract investment in select, high-value sectors generating employment in both the manufacturing and service sectors.In his special address, T T Ashok, chairman, CII Southern region, and managing director, Taylor Rubber Pvt Ltd, said that the tourism sector should also be promoted. G Vijayaraghavan, C P John, members, Kerala State Planning Board, Jose Dominic, managing director, CGH Earth, V K Mathews, executive chairman, IBS Group, Pulapre Balakrishnan, director, Centre For Development Studies are among those who spoke.
