The architecture of schools will be considered while dealing with the flu.

Pune A school-specific approach will be adopted in Maharashtra while taking a decision to close the educational establishments affected by swine flu cases in future.

Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Sharwaree Gokhale, told reporters that the architecture of the school building too would be taken into account to decide on the possible spread of the virus through close contact between students studying in different classes.

Her statement came in the backdrop of the temporary closing of as many as 10 schools in the city which witnessed the first swine flu casualty in the country on Tuesday.

Replying to questions, she said communication gap and lack of coordination between various government agencies would be rectified in future and a transparent approach adopted on dissemination of information.

The secretary said the health administration would give priority to tracing primary contacts of the deceased girl Rida Sheikh to stop possible spread of infection.

She said the government had already served notices to the two private hospitals - Jehangir and Ruby hospital - accused of medical negligence in the matter.
