Continuing to keep Narendra Modi in the crosshairs, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged that the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate 'with the face of riots and blood of riots' could not become the PM.
"I tell them that with the face of riots and blood of riots one cannot become the Prime Minister of the country," Banerjee, the West Chief Minister, told an election rally in Coochbehar district bordering Bangladesh.
Alleging that BJP was insulting the Constitution by dividing Hindus and Muslims, she said "People will not support you though you can manage some channels with money.
"Our Constitution is for unity of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. BJP is the biggest communal party. Do not give a single vote to them," she said.
With the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, supporting BJP candidate S S Ahluwalia in the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat, Banerjee also accused the saffron party of trying to divide the state.
"I will give my life, but will not allow division of Bengal," she reiterated.
Lashing out at the Congress, she said it was responsible increasing the prices of petrol, diesel, gas and fertiliser.
Quoting statistics, she reiterated her accusation that the UPA government had tried to economically starve the state by stopping funds and deducting massive interest on loans.
Alleging that the Congress was trying to create a situation where the state government would be unable to pay salaries to its employees or the people to survive, she said "That is why in a planned manner all the money is being taken away from our treasury for debt repayment."
She urged that the time had come to give a fitting reply to the Congress by ousting it from power at the Centre and not voting for it in the state.
