Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TC) chief Mamata Banerjee, admitted to a city nursing home after ending her hunger strike, is responding well to treatment and will be given semi-solid food on Saturday, a doctor attending on her said.
"Miss Banerjee is responding well to treatment although she is still a little weak. This will take some time to recover," the doctor said.
"We will give her semi-solid food today,” he said stating that Banerjee, who was admitted to the nursing home on late Thursday night. The doctor also said that her blood pressure has improved.
The TC supremo had developed gastritis during her 25-day fast to oppose acquisition of farmland for Tata motors' small car project in Singur.
Anxious party supporters waited outside the nursing home to know about Banerjee’s health.
