Man attacks cops in Mattancherry Police Station

KOCHI: A drug addict barged into the Mattancherry Police Station and injured two policemen, including an ASI, in the wee hours of Friday. The cops were admitted to hospital.  The accused, identified as Rasheed, stormed into the station around 1 am and attacked policeman George Lal by biting off his finger. Hearing the commotion, ASI T K Vishwanathan arrived on the scene, but Rasheed broke his nose bridge. Police said the accused was a drug addict and had a criminal history with several cases filed against him. The accused was taken into custody and later remanded.   George Lal is undergoing treatment at the Fort Kochi Taluk hospital and may need a plastic surgery on his finger.
