KOCHI: The Kalamassery police on Wednesday arrested a person in connection with a fraud of Rs 42 lakh.Santhosh Kumar, 43, Kanakavilas, Sanghumukham, Kadakampally, Thiruvananthapuram, is the arrested. According to the police, Santhosh collected Rs 42 lakh from Balachandran of Palakkad, promising that the amount would be doubled in 100 days.Santhosh is working as a physical education trainer at Government Polytechnic, Palakkad.The police said Santhosh collected Rs 30 lakh from Balachandran at Dubai where they had met for the first time. Later Rs 12 lakh was handed over to Santhosh at Edapally. Balachandran, a retired naval official, was working in Dubai. Santhosh had gone missing after collecting the amount. Though Balachandran tried to contact him several times on mobile phone, the number was found inactive. Balachandran lodged a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of police P A Valsan after finding the mobile phone active this month. The petition was handed over to the Kalamassery police.
