KOTTAYAM: Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Steffan de Mistura on Wednesday night held talks with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at the Govt Guest House at Nattakam here regarding the arrest of two Italian marines who allegedly shot two fishermen off Alappuzha coast. But the two sides made no headway in resolving the row.Chandy was accompanied by Excise Minister K Babu, Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose, District Collector Mini Antony, Police Superintendent C Rajagopal and Kochi Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar.The Italian Minister was flanked by Italian Ambassador Giacomo Sanfelice and Italian Consul General in Mumbai Giampaolo Cutillo. Earlier, de Mistura had met Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur at New Delhi. During the discussions, both India and Italy remained firm on their stances over the two Italian marines in the custody of Kerala Police.India remained firm that its legal procedure had to be allowed to go on unhindered, and that the investigation had to be completed.Two Indian fishermen, Pinku, 22, and Jelestine, 45, were allegedly mistaken as pirates and shot dead by the security crew of cargo vessel ‘Enrica Lexie’ on February 15.
