SANGAREDDY: Missing children, wailing parents and their reunion need not be a script straight from a Bollywood film, it can happen in real life as well.A three-month infant, lost by their parents was traced and handed over to the tribal couple after ten days.

The incident, according to delayed reports took place in Tuni thanda adjoining Mamidipalli village in Sangaraddy mandal.

On January 26, Lakavath Soni had placed her three-month daughter Ashwitha under a tree and took the cattle for grazing.  She had seizures and fell unconscious. She was hospitalised by locals and the infant was left unattended. Husband Prakash and others members of the thanda rushed to the spot and when Soni recovered, she enquired about the girl and everyone was taken aback.

When the people of the tanda rushed to the spot where the child was supposed to be sleeping, there was no trace of the girl. They thought someone must have stolen the baby and continued their search.

While the mother was in hospital, people working at a brick kiln heard the infant crying and alerted the Sangareddy rural police.  The workers thought since the infant was a girl, the parents must have abandoned her. The police admitted Aswitha to a Sisugruha where she fell ill. The girl was shifted to local hospital for treatment.

In the meantime, the parents in course of their enquiry sought the help of the police.  They told them an infant was found near the thanda and was admitted to Sisugruha. The caretakers told the parents that the child was admitted to a local hospital. They were happy to find the child. Women and child welfare officials, on the direction of the collector, conducted an enquiry and handed over the child after locals vouched for the parentage on February 6, ten days after the child was lost.
